MMS wins major ROM contract at Mount Holland Lithium mine, deploying powerful new Cat fleet
We’re thrilled to announce that Mineral Mining Services (MMS) has been awarded the ROM loading contract for the Mount Holland Covalent Lithium project—a significant win as we continue to expand our footprint in the mining sector.
To ensure maximum efficiency and productivity for this crucial operation, MMS is deploying a fleet of cutting-edge equipment, including two new Caterpillar loaders and a 50-tonne rock breaker.
Leading the charge is the powerful CAT 992 large wheel loader, equipped with a massive 14 cubic meter bucket – a 30% increase in capacity over the standard model. This upgrade, coupled with the factory-fitted payload system for live tonnage data and accurate daily reporting, will ensure rapid and efficient loading, keeping the crushers fed and optimising productivity across the entire site. Working alongside the 992, a highly versatile CAT 988 wheel loader will further enhance material handling and maintain optimal workflow.
“We’re excited to partner with Covalent Lithium on this project,” said Chris Kerr, Regional Mining Manager at MMS. “The Cat loaders with the optioned up bigger buckets and the live tonnage reports, together with our skilled team and the 50-tonne rock breaker, will give us the edge we need to deliver even greater results for Covalent Lithium.”
With this strategic partnership, MMS is poised to enhance operational performance at Mount Holland, reinforcing our commitment to innovation, safety, and operational excellence. MMS is proud to support Covalent Lithium in their mission to produce critical materials for the global clean energy market.
